Paste with middle mouse button in Opera
Published July 1st, 2008 7:28 AM EDT By TamilYou can paste the contents of clipboard to any text area in Opera with middle mouse button using this mouse gesture.
Create a new mouse gesture in Advanced → Edit Widget section with Button3 as input context & shortcut and Paste mouse selection | Paste as action.
Now you can paste clipboard contents to any text area in Opera by clicking middle mouse button.
Note: Paste mouse selection will work only in Linux.

Another variant, arguably a more useful one, is to assign “Paste and Go” to the middle click. Since it also works with the address bar and the search field, all you have to do is copy the address you want to go to or the text you want to search for, and then do a middle click into the appropriate field. No need to press “Enter” to finish.

in linux (which this tip is for), middle clicking anywhere on a page, acts as paste and go, hence why tamil is giving us this tip of how we can make middle click also paste text into textareas as well as doing paste and go.

I just tried it - it works OOTB without any fancy jiggerypokery

@Rhonnysparks,
Same gesture can do different actions. I have gesture down for spell check in edit widget section. Gesture down will spell check when I do it in text area and it will open open new tab when I do it outside text area.

Damn, sounds cool. Why doesn’t that work in Windows?

Make sure you have not included any space between Button & 3.

I’m using it heavily in KDE (not only in Opera). I was working by default.
using
it probably works by default in KDE based environments due to the Klipper ubertool

Thank you very much. This was a great help.

This is one of the features I hate from opera. I suddenly miss the link pressing the middle bottom and opera changes the site I’m looking and opens google searching a selected phrase.
I hate mouse gestures, since mouse unwanted events suddenly are being calls when you didn’t intended it.
