Opera Mini 4.1 Released

Opera Software today released Opera Mini 4.1, the newest version of Java based Opera web browser that works with nearly all mobile phones.

Opera Mini 4.1 introduces the following new features:

  • Opera Mini 4.1 is up to 50% faster than Opera Mini 4.0
  • URL completion auto-suggest, making address input easy and intuitive
  • Web pages can be saved for later off-line viewing
  • New quick find feature for words and phrases (similar to Ctrl+F function in desktop browsers)
  • Images, ringtones and other content can be downloaded without leaving Opera Mini

This is, of course, in addition to already useful features such as Opera Link, file upload, custom searches, and more.

According to Jon von Tetzchner, CEO of Opera Software, Opera Mini boasts 44 million users worldwide. Take the guided tour and become user 44,000,001 today!

I’m still waiting for the new opera mobile but opera mini 4.1 will do until we get that… It’s an amazing browser though…

How can you tell if your phone supports Opera mini’s new JSR-75 features? I have a Nokia 6500 classic.

    Check out this list: http://www.dpsoftware.org/filter.php?jsr=jsr75

Edit: It seems that list might provide a few false positives. See what ManneS has to say on the subject: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/findpost.pl?id=2504708

My phone can run it just fine, but it’s a T629 (newer Tmobile) so it blocks all network traffic.
Obviously feature upgrades don’t impress me. I’d waiting for Opera to actually sign the app so it’ll work with my phone.

op mini 4ever!!! now even the armory (armory.wow-europe.com) works quite well, although it’s a heavily java-based site. talent calculator also works better now, but still not very usable (but well, I’m allready happy with the first one) ^^

argh, I’m not quite awake. armory is of corse not java-based, but javascript-based *walking to the kitchen to make a coffee* (maybe then it will get better ^^)

    @ Daniel:
If you go to any page, and you see “Save page” in the menu, your phone should support JSR-75.

I do not own a mobile, but I noticed yesterday that the Opera Mini demo was a lot easier to use than it had been. Looks a big improvement.

Just installed opera mini. And the installation deleted all my bookmarks! :’(

But loving the new additions though! Auto-url and saving a web page are the best!

The only missing is to remember search entries like url to save typing in previous searches again.

I wonder when are you going to fix the ICON appearance on the Symbian OS phones. Mine is N76, operamini works just fine, but the application icon is ugly and tiny. please fix it?
