Opera: Webware 100 winner

The Opera browser was a Webware 100 winner in the category of ‘browsing.’

Here’s what Webware said about Opera:

“Opera is one of the oldest browsers around. It’s also made its way into all sorts of consumer electronics, including mobile phones, gaming portables, and even home video game consoles. Opera has combined many technological services into its desktop Web browser and is commonly regarded as the first to implement tabs for viewing multiple Web pages in the same window.”

It’s interesting to note that IE7, Firefox, Safari, and Maxthon also won in the ‘browsing’ category. It makes you wonder, though, how much the Webware 100 awards actually mean…

One thing is certain - being a Webware 100 winner will never be very controversial. ;)

Lol, yes. I first read about Firefox winning… but when I checked out the actual list of winners… heck.. WHO DIDN’T WIN?

I guess by making every product a winner they’ll get linked from every major product website. What a **** competition. I’m annoyed I took the time to vote.

Yeah… it’s almost pointless: all the major browsers are there, even Maxthon got in…

Not only did Maxthon, make the winners list, it actually got the most votes (apparently it’s very popular in china).

Funny part is is that if you look at its feature page, it’s nearly identical to opera’s.

The comments about IE7 there… as a winner show just how worthless that is! :D

    I mean… c’mon….

“Version 8, which is set for release later this year, is already drawing interest… for its promise of standards compliance.”

Wow, the current version wins for not being standards compliant. Rock on!

A browser is a browser, is a browser, call it by any name, as long as it works just right. but OPERA is special.
With apologies for misquoting, to Mister Will M. Shakespeare. RIP.
