Google!
Published March 3rd, 2008 4:37 PM EST By Daniel GoldmanYour Start page on Opera Mini should look like this today, after we switched back to Google as the default search engine.
Now start googling like there’s no tomorrow!

Clusty ftw!
using
for me it required to reinstall Opera Mini on my phone to see Google as default search engine
using
^ Interesting. I can confirm that it’s not updating for me either. Since this was *meant* to come into place as of 1st March, does that mean someone is losing out on money?
using
My Opera Mini is also showing the Yahoo search as of this moment. I guess I will try downloading Opera again to see if that fixes it.
using
Some phones will not automatically update, so a new install will be required to see google again. Frankly I knew Yahoo would not last, they had their day.. glad to see google is back.

Google search is in mobile view. However, classic view (desktop) is more efficient for some users, thus should be optional (by settings in opera:config ?)…
Google > web, images, news, map
Eg. searching topics by images is efficient. Using classic view user is presented 18 images on first load (desktop mode), compared to only 5 in mobile view.
using
opera:config to configure a web page? Doesn’t make sense. It’s Google’s setting, not Opera’s.

The update will not roll out to old clients all at once. See http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=224867&t=1204633312&page=1#comment2467083

The update to existing Opera Mini installations should take place sometime this week. Hold tight..

Using Firefox: document_write is not defined

Well, the OM simulator doesn’t work (it just keeps saying it can’t connect to the internet no matter what I do), and it didn’t update for me either.
On a side note, are the RSS feeds also synced by Opera Link? If I redownload OM, will Link cover the feeds as well or will I have to readd them myself?

As much as I would prefer Google if it worked, it is the only search that doesn’t function correctly on my Opera Mini. From the start page I would click a search engine like Yahoo or Wikipedia… input my text through the HTC touchscreen and type OK… and all the search engine EXCEPT Google would pull up results. Google would dump me to its homepage instead.
using
hmm still the same!

Can we change default search in Opera Mobile and Mini? Google is a horrible choice for me, especially searching for S60 software/themes. Their search results are full of spam and viruses, I don’t want to purchase a antivirus just because my purchased software defaults to a search engine.
Mini is a different deal, I am speaking about Mobile, paid version.
using
Rogue, the Opera Mini simulator works here. As for Opera Link, at this point it only synchs your bookmarks, speed dial and Personal bar.
using
Ilgaz, Opera Mini allows you to add any search engine that you’d like.

where to get an Opera mini simulator?
