Opera will be on the world’s first WiMax mobile gaming device

The Opera Web browser will ship with what is labeled the world’s first portable WiMax gaming device, the POSBRO G100.
WiMax is a new technology that enables long range wireless connectivity. Unlike WiFi, which has a maximum range of about 300 feet (~100 meters), WiMax can reach a range of up to 30 miles (~50km). Here in the United States (US), Sprint is actively working on deploying a 4G nationwide broadband mobile network using WiMax.
Opera on the G100 will give users the ability to play online games, in addition to general Web browsing.
Besides for WiMax, the G100 also supports connectivity via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

WiMax sounds awesome!

Pocketgamer.co.uk seems to think we will never see it released in the Uk. Any chance?

Wow… this device is incredible! And with Opera it will be even better!

Steve, I don’t know of any release schedule for the UK. In the US, however, the device is scheduled for release sometime during Q4 ‘08 or Q1 ‘09.

Daniel, thank you very much for the info. That little device looks really nice, and the fact that it will come with Opera makes it look even better.
