Opera recap of 2007: things I missed
Published January 11th, 2008 12:23 PM EST By Daniel GoldmanA couple weeks ago I wrote a short recap of the major events, milestones, and releases that took place in the Opera world over the year of 2007. It turns out I missed a few.
Jan Standal, Director of Product Management at Opera, just posted his own recap of 2007 on his blog. (I know Jan wouldn’t want me to say this, but I consider him one of the premier brains behind Opera)
Here are some of the things from Jan’s recap that I missed:
- We published a labs build with <video>, SVG-video and 3d-canvas
- We made 2 major milestones for some secret projects
- David Storey, Navjot Pawera, and Shwetank in our Open the Web (OtW) team worked with lots of important websites, from companies like Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft, to increase compatibility with the Opera browser
- We were at more than 15 Web developer conferences in 2007 and build lots of good relationships
- We published around 40 articles on Dev.Opera since Chris Mills joined.

And for 2008 I hope for some breakthrough on set-up boxes for TV. I have been waiting for that area for the last two years. Is this the year where Opera will be launched on high volume boxes?

Was there a point to mentioning this with no other information?
