Updates to opera.com; new b2b section

We’ve added a new b2b section on opera.com with new pages and graphics.

This is the first step in our redesign efforts of our entire opera.com website (which I first mentioned in an earlier post). At this point we’ve extracted all b2b (i.e. OEMs and operators/carriers) related content that was scattered around on opera.com, and created its own section under opera.com/b2b.

What’s new
As you can see, we’ve created sections for Opera Mobile, Opera Mini, Opera Widgets, and Opera for Devices on the new b2b site. In each of those sections, we’ve added pages that describe the features, benefits, and technology behind the respective products.

I should point out (if it hasn’t been clear to your already) that this new b2b site is primarily geared toward OEMs and operators, not end users who want to find out more about Opera.

Hopefully this new site will help extend Opera’s reach to additional OEMs and operators/carriers. The site adds lots of important information and details of our various products and services that are of interest to OEMs and operators.

I really like some of the new header graphics; they help show the cooler side of Opera.

Much more to come
This update to our site is just the beginning. There’s a lot more to come.

    Well done, looks great… Hmm… Missing is a Opera Mobile Simulator ?

    I quickly browsed through it, and noticed some odd things.

    - The « Contact us » button on the horizontal bar is too much present. I think that if a company wants to contact you, they’ll find a means without this button.
    - New « Solution » section is presented as a sub-section of the « Operators + OEMs » section, but the main site menu shows it as sections with the same importance.
    - Actually only realized that the horizontal menu changed depending of the page you are on after viewing your screenshot and wondering « Where is this page? ».
    - On Opera Mini pages, the « Free download » button is not in the same style as the others - it’s more yellow and sharper.

    It’s nice to see you’re trying to improve your site (and you at last got rid of your old-fashioned, squared background), good luck. But be careful, home page looks more and more like Apple’s one (which isn’t in itself bad, but shows a lack of originality…).

    Talking about this page: The « Opera Mobile technology » part is an image. In my opinion, you could have done it in HTML+CSS for accessibility reasons.

    Generally speaking, every single image on these new pages has text on it BUT has an empty alt attribute too. People who deactivated images won’t see anything of these texts, losing precious informations (particularly on the previously mentionned page).

    Yes, and if loaded in small screen mode, the (large) images get distorted… So new pages seems designed for desktop, and not mobile access ?

    Alot of nice stuff about Opera Mobile 9 in there, it’s nice to see some new information about it. This product is looking to be really really nice, and 3rd party plugins!

    WildEnte, b2b is not an Opera-invented term. It’s used all over.

    Some of the comments made in http://operawatch.com/news/2007/08/feedback-request-what-should-we-do-to-enhance-operas-website.html referred to how Opera’s homepage is too vertically large and does not deliver the important information or selling points.

    While this b2b redesign does refresh the look of Opera’s pages and provides a new organizational structure, it doesn’t seem like it solves what was asked for in the aforementioned blog post. b2b is designed to provide OEMs with more info, but doesn’t help the majority of internet users discover what there is about Opera.

    Hopefully b2b is not Opera’s response to enhancing Opera’s website.

    IceArdor, we’re making the changes to opera.com in multiple stages. The new b2b section is just part of what we’re doing. You could expect to see changes to other parts of opera.com coming.

    Looks good. Just one comment, the menu and the “contact us” button is a bit off in IE6.

    Is there any chance of making available as a wallpaper, the picture of the two girls eyeing the cellphone? I think is Cool!
