Opera tip: How to open closed pop-ups?
Published December 21st, 2007 2:57 PM EST By Daniel GoldmanBy default Opera blocks unwanted pop-ups. There may, however, be times when you do want to see a particular pop-up window/tab/ad.
Q: How do I open a blocked pop-up window?
A: Click on the ‘Trash bin’ icon (located on the top right corner). All of the blocked popups should be listed under the ‘Blocked Pop-ups From’ option. To open the pop-up of your choice, simply click on its title.

I have found the pop-up blocker to be spot on for my usage.
However, I sometimes dislike sites that open links in a new tab e.g.
http://www.arseblog.com (A football blog!)
and love the ability to right mouse click the link, then press open - to open the link in the same tab.

Unwanted pop-ups are indeed annoying but the ads that are on the same page as the one you want to view is perhaps even more annoying. Just found this little web server that I’m running now on my machine and direct any traffic to it that would otherwise go to the ad servers (using /etc/hosts):
http://code.google.com/p/kwakd/
And voila la, no ads!
