The monthly browser share statistics from NetApplications are in today, and the Opera desktop browser is the big winner among the pack.

Opera’s market share increased to 0.99% in the month of October from 0.87% in the month before, a 14% increase.

Opera Mini also continued its growth in the overall browser market share, with this past month clocking in at 0.41% (of the total browser market share, including desktop browsers).

    In Opera we trust! :)

I hope next month will see Opera desktop confirming this excellent result :D

The browser rendering features are excellent in the 9.50. If M2 will be corrected, Opera will reach even the 1.5% (without Mini :) ) Congrats for results and successes for Opera Team!

This is great news. I would love to have Opera on my PSP, because it’s browser is dreadful.

    Very cool!

I think touting Opera Mini/Mobile market share as a function of desktop share is incorrect.

It should be stated as ‘desktop share,” “mobile device share,” “console share” maybe. I say this because everyone I ask to show me their mobile browser either doesn’t know how, can’t, or user experience s-cks. Opera Mini and mSafari (on only one device, but what a device!) are the only usable options.

(I’m hoping the Opera team will peruse the iPhone SDK in February and try to offer Opera Kestrel for iPhone hopefully!)

yeah would be nice if you could see opera’s marketshare on the different OSes and/or devices. but I’m sure that over the next year more people will be drawn towards the desktop version. at least I hope so :)

Do you know why all the statistics have changed suddenly ?
    Previous months too !

Looks like something has happened to the stats. Opera Mini is now at 0.03%. Perhaps old figures were simply too good to be true?
