The View bar is back in the most recent Opera 9.5 alpha
Published September 17th, 2007 9:34 AM EDT By Daniel GoldmanIn the first alpha of Opera 9.5 we removed the View bar from the browser. Many advanced users, who use it to place custom buttons, etc., asked that we bring it back.
Well, in the latest Opera 9.5 alpha (build 9523) it has been added back.
You asked for it. You got it.

This is excellent news. I use Rijk’s Twelve toolbar and menu setups, which his toolbar uses.

Glad to see the view bar is back! It’s one of my most used toolbars! Now that I’ve seen the Start Bar and View Bar removed and then added again, I feel like they are removing all of the things that helps make Opera unique in order to transform it into another “common” IE replica browser. I’m glad to see that they listen when we tell them that these features and options are the reason we use Opera. I just hope they don’t go and remove more features that I need and use daily.
I’m wondering now if Opera will be every bit as useful and friendly as it has always been in the past with these dramatic changes (removing features, changing a majority of the keyboard shortcuts, etc.). I know they are listening and I’m glad. Otherwise I’d be searching for a new browser by now. Thanks for listening Opera!
