Law.com: No excuse not to test websites in Opera and Firefox

If you enjoyed this post, then make sure you subscribe to my RSS Feed.“There is no excuse for failing to design Web sites that are compatible with all major browsers. Sure, IE continues to command the bulk of the market. But why would a firm exclude users of other browsers, particularly when it is the more tech-savvy users who opt out of IE? This is the problem with the careers page on the Web site of Patton Boggs. It works fine in IE, but try to open the page in Firefox and it comes up as a screenful of black. Switch to Opera and you get the same. Did no one at Patton ever test this page in a browser other than IE?”

hmmm the said site works on my 9.5 alpha perfectly
using
Yep, works as a charm in kestrel
using
Opened fine for me and I’m using Opera 9.23.
using
Doesn’t work for me using 9.23.

Opera staff: This site accessable with Opera 9.23 on RH 9 linux; site uses actrive-x controls with flash. We use the Abobe flash 9r48 plugin. Page responded to activation and loaded correctly including the audio. Page obviously designed for IE 6 or 7.

That site seems to be working for me now as well. When I wrote this post, it didn’t work in Opera 9.5 alpha.
Alvin, neither Opera nor Firefox (and Safari) support Active-X. It is even disabled by default in the lastest IE7.
using
even works in FF

Works in 9.23 and 9.1 (both LInux). I’d try the Wii, but someones bought Resident Evil so it will be busy for a few weeks!
In general there seem to be less and less problem sites.
using
And some books have “great” suggestions about Opera support.
using
Works for me in Opera 9.23 and Firefox on Mac OS X (10.4.10)

can’t someone just make a widget who makes us able to use ie inside opera (there is a gadget to be found for firefoxusers; ie tab I think it’s called, so it shouldn’t be impossible;P) ? it sure would make my life a lot easier
using
Must be using this version of Opera!
