US Justice Department cites Opera in victory case over Microsoft
Published August 31st, 2007 11:00 AM EDT By Daniel GoldmanThe United States Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a news release yesterday saying, ‘competition and consumers have benefited from the final judgments entered because of the Department’s antitrust enforcement efforts against Microsoft.’
“The Justice Department cited several examples of middleware competitors — including Web browsers such as Mozilla’s Firefox, Opera, and Apple’s Safari; and multimedia players from Apple and Adobe — to support its assertion that the final judgment has protected competition.”

It’s great that Opera didn’t end up in “place where old Netscapes go”, but 1% marketshare in US isn’t much of a competition to MS, is it? Opera really deserves much more!
