LOL.

Myspace won’t be so “big” thing in a few years, they need some “insurance” to get income in the future. Facebook… Come on, with all that stuff going on … Just no sense post to me. Just my 2 cents.

I also see no point to Opera, ok, someone buys, what then? Opera gets facebook search or whaterver integrated into opera, etc. Basically I don’t want anyone to buy Opera (expect me ).

Myspace is probably the most BADLY programmed website in the history of the entire Internet, if they got their hands on Opera, it would probably become worse than IE!

I think it refers to buying the browser not the company. Like deals opera got from gsm operators to make a customized opera mini. If myspace or facebook splash some cash, i’m sure opera will make them a customized opera mini for them

These companies shoud buy Opera? That’s outrageous! If anything, Opera should be business savvy enough for them to realize that they should be branding Opera, spreading their name and the other company benefits as well – so everybody’s happy. This will help out Opera a lot.

I think we should summon Asa for his thoughts on this…

Don’t see it happening either. It’d be more cost-effective for them to strike a deal with OS to create a brand for them, like many other companies are doing with OM/Mobile

I’m absolutely against anyone buying Opera and I hope the bosses at Opera reject any moves to buy it. I completely love Opera the way it is- as an independent and formidable competitor on the web.
If Opera is looking for more revenue, they can sign big deals and all its friends where both stand to gain without Opera losing its current status.
Ps: I hope Opera’s lawyers and legal team are working as hard as the rest of the development team- with all these opportunists floating around like vultures and some looking to steal Opera’s technology

Interesting proposition there. If it were to happen, I think Facebook would be a better fit, with all of its applications integrating with Opera’s widgets on a phone if they ever become a feature (hopefully) in Opera Mini. But this is all merely speculation now, and I don’t see it happening in the near future.

The thing about Opera is you don’t need to buy it in order to make a mobile web page. All you need to do is talk to the Opera guys, make a special deal, and blam! You’ve got a webpage optimized for Mini.

I don’t think it makes sense for Facebook or MySpace to own a browser company, nor would I approve of that. MySpace webpages are so bloody ugly that they really ought to own IE instead of Opera. And it just doesn’t seem like it’d be in Opera’s best interest to be owned by Facebook.
