Wanting to incorporate more user feedback in the next major upgrade to Opera Mini, code-named “Dimension”, the Opera Mini team is inviting users to sign up for the beta version of the new browser (sign up here).

Those participating in the beta tester sign-up program will be notified by email when the beta of Dimension is available. There’s also an option to be notified via an IM message.

So what’s new in the browser? I can’t say too much now, but there’s a totally new way of navigating webpages with Dimension – really cool. As I’ve said before, I’ve been testing it for some time already, and have been truly impressed. Seeing what the tiny browser can do on my phone has blown me away.

Let the speculation begin. Which new features and enhancements on the Opera Mini wish list were added? :)

    Hmm….

Multiple dimensions. Sounds like something related to tabbed browsing?

“… totally new way of navigating webpages…”

Beats me. Is there a better way of navigating webpage in SSR mode, other than scrolling down, to link of interest, and click…???

Having said that, I’m a fan of top down approach, because Nokia S60 and MS Deepfish fans are too ;)

Navigating by starting with the big picture, a thumbnail preview for orientation, of part of webpage that can be loaded within memory capacity, if wanted. If not, scroll down to show next part of page, etc…
Thumbnail would load fast, while SSR is prepared on server, for fast rendering, if wanted.

Yes, probably needs a 240 x 320 screen to work, but that’s what OM users will buy next, anyway…

    Speculating ;)
