Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese versions of Opera’s site released

Opera launched two more localized versions of www.opera.com in Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. These sites will enable users from their respective regions to view Opera’s pages in their native language.
China continues to be a key market for Opera with 137 million Internet users, making it the world’s second largest market behind the US.
In addition to Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, Opera also has localized versions in Russian, Korean, Polish, and Japanese. Opera is currently working on localizing its website in other key markets.
I’d like to give a plug to a Chinese Opera blog by an Opera user in China.
Note: I’ve updated this post with a reference to Traditional Chinese, rather than Taiwanese.

Hmm, nice, but what about a fully translated German version of Opera’s home page. I know there are some pages in German, but the thing is, neither the start page nor the download page are German, of course the most important ones on Opera’s web site. Germany is the biggest country of western Europe (not to mention Austria, which also shares the German language) and the usage share of Opera is quite high here (more so than surrounding countries except to the east and more than the US, I think it’s between 5% and 7%). And funnily enough, there *was* a fully translated Opera page at around Opera 3 and 4 (I checked this with archive.org).
Don’t get me wrong here, I don’t want to be rude and I don’t need a German version of the home page. But Firefox has a German page, Microsoft of course has, too, and it’s not like every German can speak English. So, in my opinion, Opera should support us Germans more
I read somewhere that the German community of Opera users is the second (or third?) largest after the English (and Russian?) community. One reason more to have a good German web site

I believe the flag shown on English site indicating the presence of traditional Chinese site is incorrect.

But the poiltical status of Taiwan is complicated… better remove the flag, leave the text alone.
