Barclays Bank of England is recommending to their customers they use Opera Mini to access their online mobile banking services. Barclays is the 4th largest financial services provider in the world by Tier 1 capital ($32.5 billion), according to Wikipedia.

This is a pretty big endorsement for Opera Mini. Opera Mini is truly the way to browse the web on your phone. If you haven’t yet downloaded it to your phone, do so – you’ll see what real mobile browsing is all about.

And it’s not just us saying this, here is what PC Magazine recently wrote about Opera Mini:

“If you only ever download one cell phone app, download Opera… Opera Mini 3.0 might change your life. This software injects an almost desktop-quality Web browser into even relatively humble devices.”

So what are you waiting for? Download Opera Mini – and spread the word.

Actually, Barclays recommends using Opera Mini, or Opera Mobile…
I’ll give the Mobile Team some credit too, as they finally got it right… by offering intelligent zooming in Mobile 9… (hope a Beta is released soon)

Barclays has always been strong on cross-browser accessibility for their online banking – I recall using it since Opera 3.x or so. Really a forward-looking policy that other websites should learn from. :-)
