Opera’s CTO, Hakon Wium Lie visits with Wired; shows off Opera on the OLPC laptop
Published March 2nd, 2007 1:07 PM EST By Daniel GoldmanHåkon Wium Lie, the Chief Technology Officer of Opera Software, was in San Francisco the other day for a conference and meetings. While he was there he visited with one of Wired’s bloggers showing off Opera on the little green laptop, the OLPC laptop.
The OLPC group is working on creating a laptop under the price of $100 (USD). Engineers at Opera are working on creating a special edition of the Opera desktop browser for the laptop.
On Tuesday, earlier this week, I had a chance to visit with Hakon at Opera’s headquarters, he was excited to show off to me some of the projects he’s currently working on, including Opera on the OLPC laptop.
I did a video interview with him where he also did a demo of Opera on the little green laptop. I’m still working on editing the video before I post it online.
The wired blogger also took a video of the OLPC laptop; he’s editing it now as well. Let’s see if I could get mine online first. ![]()
