eWeek Magazine picks Opera among the Top Web Technologies of All Time

eWeek Magazine Labs Director Jim Rapoza chose the Opera browser among the 30 top web technologies of all time.
“Though never among the leaders in browser market share, Opera was and is one of the most innovative and cutting-edge Web browsers available.”
Back when Opera 9 was released, eWeek Labs gave Opera the Analyst’s Choice award saying “we found Opera 9 to be one of the best Web browsing tools we’ve used in a long time.” I spoke with Jim Rapoza about eWeek’s decision for this award; you can read the transcript here.
To be fair to the other browsers, Opera wasn’t the only browser included in this list, so was Internet Explorer (IE) 3, Lynx, Firefox, Netscape, SpyGlass, ViolaWWW, and Mosaic. Most of them are ancient web browsers, but nonetheless shaped what would become the modern browser of today.

Let’s see how long it takes for a Firefox fan to take offence in your wording

Dane, I did mention Firefox in my post, precisely to be accurate and fair.

I think he ment the comment about most of those browsers beeing ancient. But the keyword is “most”, not all.
I bet we will se OM in that list soon too. It’s a gift to the internet and it’s evolution.
