Yesterday’s blog post by Opera’s Lawrence Eng is a must read. He talks about the true essence of Opera.
If you enjoyed this post, then make sure you subscribe to my RSS Feed.“Idealists like myself who hear the Opera story will be drawn to Opera with just a little more awareness of who we are and what we’re about. The Open Source success stories of some of our competitors are great, but Opera (being closed source) has a compelling story of its own, continuing to make real a vision of the Open Web that includes everyone. We’re a unique company in a unique position to do a lot of good.”

That’s indeed an insightful article, but I don’t think browsers make the world better. They might use Opera to “fight” HIV/AIDS, but I think powerful computers are needed to make a start on examining this (and other) diseases.
There is actually a project that enables you to share unused processor power (of your computer) to a research institution (availability varies from country to country).
