I agree with Asa and everyone else. I hope there’s a choice.

I think Opera wouldn’t do this agreement just for the money- there would be a value added to the user as well (based on my understanding of onesearch) -but there still should be a choice.

Am I reading this right? Opera is changing a user’s default search without the user’s permission per the results of a new revenue agreement? That seems pretty wrong to me. I hope I’m misreading.

Will it be possible to have it work just like Opera for the desktop? I don’t mind to have Yahoo as a default search or even MSN! I want the flexibility to go in the settings and change it to Google. I also understand that Opera Mini is making profit out of the sponsored Bookmarks and Google search, but the search engine is slightly different. It’s the one we LIKE to use, we don’t care if you had a deal with Google to make money, we would of used it anyway.

Go ahead, switch it. I will NEVER use that search box, I’ll quick-bookmark Google this way you won’t get the revenue from Yahoo and you won’t get the revenue from Google either because it is not your app that brought me there.

I think it is good seeing other search providers than Google for a change. Though I would personally preferred Ask!

That’s *part* of the question. What about the other facets? Will the search results page be preseted similarly to how the demo shows them? -like this? (but within the Opera mini UI of course)

And we’ll get a silent upgrade of all of our Mini installs or will we have to download again?

Yahoo Onesearch is slated to come out sometime in Q1 2007, and it will be the default Opera Mini search field.

Can you make an option, so the user can decide, if he/she wants to search with yahoo/google. Because I really love google search engine, but really don’t like the ‘Yahoo-thing’.

It was really nice to have google on the main page, it made life easier if I hade to search something. But from now on I’ll have to browse to google.com first, just because I do not want to use Yahoo! (Please?????)

Sorry, but I just don’t like yahoo (I don’t really know why). Some persons might like yahoo more then google, so I suggest an option for the user to choose between google/yahoo!

clocks111 is right- it’s not the “onesearch” jsut yet. There’s a difference between onesearch and yahoo! search, but nobody appears to be talking about it. I asked a couple times on the operamini blog about it but haven’t heard when and how the onesearch will roll out to Mini. Will our search results pages look like the Yahoo!Go! demo of onesearch looks? Will it silently roll out over Yahoo! search that is there now?

If Yahoo wanted to better serve us Opera Mini users, they’d create a special mobile version of the my.yahoo.com portal. (Have they done this without my knowledge?) I’d like to have that as my homepage. But I still prefer Google searches.

New downloads of Opera Mini 3 should already include the new Yahoo OneSearch engine

U sure about that? I still seemed to have the old Yahoo search when I tried to re-download OM:)
