Opera CTO hints at developer tools in desktop browser
Published October 12th, 2006 11:06 PM EDT By Daniel GoldmanIn an interview with Cnet, Opera’s CTO Håkon Wium Lie mentioned that Opera is considering adding developer tools, such as a debugger and a developer toolbar, to the Opera desktop browser.
Developers have long requested that Opera add more developer tools to the browser like a DOM Inspector (Read: What would you like to see in the next Opera desktop browser).
It makes sense on Opera’s part that developers use the Opera browser in their development process. Should developers use Opera for debugging and building their sites, there would be less of a compatibility issue that Opera faces at times.

Excellent news!

He also mentioned roaming profiles (for mobile devices at least) and phising protection.

Synchronization of data between desktop and mobile devices was more impressive for me, after reading Hakon’s interview. If it is automatically done with all Opera equipped devices on local network, it might be real “Future is now”.

Hmmm.. thats good.
But what I want is API to allow something similar to extensions.

Incorporating something like the Web Accessibility Toolbar would be cool.
