So reviewers wrote those things for their 8.x reviews :) And because in reality 8.x (especially 8.5x) was really good, they are now writing good reviews for 9.x :) I have seen this in other areas also, for example in computer game reviews, where people review their experience with the previous version instead of the actual game.
