Opera 9 continues to receive excellent reviews

With no shortage of positive reviews, the Opera browser has won the hearts of many browser reviewers (and new users).

Robert Irvine from WebUser Magazine reviewed Opera 9 a couple days ago. His review is very positive towards Opera, and highlights many of the features that have made Opera popular.

Snippet from the review:

Verdict
Evidently seeking to innovate rather than imitate, Opera 9 leaves other browsers in the shade. It’s packed with clever features that make web surfing simpler, speedier and safer, but is still straightforward to use and loads pages at lightning speed. Although Firefox fans may miss having thousands of extensions to play with, Opera’s versatility and powerful performance make it a worthy rival to the browsers from Mozilla and Microsoft, who will probably be eyeing some of its new tools with interest.

Gareth McCumskey, the editor of ISP Directory, also did a review of Opera 9 as well as Internet Explorer (IE) and Firefox. Of the three major Windows browsers he reviewed, Opera 9 received the highest marks, followed by Firefox and IE.

Sweet! As he said… indeed they “will probably be eyeing some of its new tools with interest”. Won’t take them long to copy Opera, as they have pretty much always done. :)

    Why now ?

I thought Opera 8 was good too, Opera 9 takes care off a few annoying things but 8 was ok too.

    Good news.

In my opinion, Opera 9.01 is the best web browser available for Windows.

I’m asking myself the same question also. I think that maybe people are generally not reviewing what they see (ie. the newest version), but their previous experience with the software.

7.x was a bit bloated on the GUI side and broke many non-standards-compliant websites and so on. So reviewers wrote those things for their 8.x reviews :) And because in reality 8.x (especially 8.5x) was really good, they are now writing good reviews for 9.x :)

I have seen this in other areas also, for example in computer game reviews, where people review their experience with the previous version instead of the actual game.

I’d say it is also the best for Linux-based system :)
