Opera getting more praises by bloggers

Tim ‘Junyor’ Altman did his version of Opera’s Opera Bits newsletter yesterday; here’s mine, but a shorter one.

Today I ran across some articles about the Opera browser.

The first one was a comparison between Opera 9, Firefox 2 beta, and Internet Explorer (IE) 7 beta 3 by Michael Muchmore, from Extreme Tech. In his review of these browsers, he gave a very fair review of Opera 9 (though not everyone agrees with this), and had lots of praises for it too. This review was covered on Digg, and received more than 200 comments.

The second one was an article by Ryan from CyberNet, who compiled a list of features that he would like to see in a ‘perfect’ browser. Like the previous article, this too was very positive about the Opera browser.

On the Nintendo side, Chris James from PocketGamer wrote about Opera’s Nintendo DS browser. His article gives a bit more insight on the Nintendo DS browser, which is due out in Japan next week on July 24th (and in Europe on October 6th), based on a Japanese video that appeared on YouTube.

The perception of the Opera browser by bloggers and browser users in general have changed significantly for the better ever since Opera removed the ads. Let’s keep it going.

Tomorrow I’ll post about an interview with the Chief Web Opener at Opera Software, David Storey.

P.S. Many readers have asked me about the Blake Ross interview. Blake told me he was a bit busy now, but that he’ll have it soon (hopefully).

Hmm… I can think of something that would earn it brownie points among *lots* of bloggers…

    Open source it :)

Opera would have to adjust its business model accordingly, but then again, they had to do that when they removed the ads and its really helped, ne?

How can Extreme Tech say that Opera uses 53 MB of memory just started, and 52 MB with 6 tabs openeed?
