The new Opera slogan: your web, your choice
Published June 22nd, 2006 5:50 PM EDT By Daniel Goldman
With the release of Opera 9, Opera introduced a new slogan as part of their marketing campaign aimed at increasing awareness of the choices available with browsing the web.
The new slogan, “your web, your choice” is clearly aimed at Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, which comes bundled with the Windows OS.
Opera has had a renewed focus on its desktop browser. Starting with having a launch party for the desktop browser in Microsoft’s own backyard, which company officials tell me was no coincidence. (Photos of the Opera 9 launch event available here).

Pretty decent slogan. Since the Borg edition, Opera marketing seem to have got their act together.

Here are some images with the new slogan to put on your sites.

History of Opera’s Slogans

Opera 4/Opera 5 - The Fastest Browser on Earth
Opera 6 - Simply the Best Internet Experience
Opea 7/Opera 8 - Less is More/The Fastest…/Simply…, mixtures

I think this is my favorite of Opera’s slogans. (Thanks, Saito, for the list — I don’t have my collection of old banners on this machine.) It’s an inspirational approach, rather than making claims that fanboys will dissect for the next three years (all that “No, Firefox is not faster than IE… on MY computer” and “No, Opera is not faster than Firefox… on MY computer” grudge match ****.)
And it says something about the state of the web today: IIRC current stats show IE around 87%, and while I’m sure some people have looked at the competition and decidd they like IE anyway, most of those people probably haven’t made an active choice to use it, simply a passive choice not to try anything else.
Anyone know if there are plans for updated PNG-24 images? They updated the really basic 88×31 banners from “Opera 8″ to “Opera 9,” but only the 8-bit versions — and they’ve got solid white backgrounds. Once I’ve got time, I’m going to have to edit the graphics myself so they’ll work on a textured background.

Good point!

Don’t forget the Best Damn slogan, “So Fast, It Sings!”

Actually, Opera’s corporate tagline still remains Simply the best Internet experience on any device. That will not change anytime soon (I don’t think
‘Your web, your choice” is only the Opera 9 slogan.
