New downloads record for Opera 9
Published June 21st, 2006 4:46 AM EDT By Daniel GoldmanOpera CEO Jon von Tetzchner told me earlier today at the Opera 9 launch event in Seattle that it has reached a new record with downloads of the desktop browser.
The previous download record for Opera was when it removed the ads with Opera 8.5, which had more than one million downloads in the first two days.
Update: Thanks to Jakub81, who pointed to a blog post by Dean Kakridas, VP for Market Development at Opera. Over the first day Opera had at least 750,000 downloads. I had a chance to meet Dean at the launch of Opera 9 in Seattle. I’m looking forward to working with Dean on various projects aimed at increasing the awareness and ultimately the market share of the Opera browser.

Btw, at download.com the Opera 9 download count is at 6 million. Is that cumulative of all previous versions?
Another thing, just trying out flock let’s see if operawatch detects that.

David Lawrence had me on last night, hopefully that will get more folks turned onto the cause. We had a caller who applauded Opera on Mobile which was fantastic.
