Opera Fools: Announcing Opera Models

In compliance with the new law governing the internet and technology companies, Opera announced today a new and bold business initiative: Opera Models.

Using Opera employees as models, Opera aims to show how real people really use technology in their everyday lives. “We are always looking for new ways to monetize our staff,” says Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO of Opera Software. “They are after all our most valuable resource, and this is the best idea we’ve had since we attached generators to our gym’s treadmills.”

On a related note, Firefox’s Asa Dotzler (who Opera fans love to hate) has finally seen the light by making the switch to the Opera browser. Asa, welcome to the community.

You know, even knowing the Asa thing was fake, I died a little on the inside reading his post. I remember some time back reading a post of his that was proclaiming how great Mozilla was, and how horrid IE and Opera was, and I hurt. I hurt not because I was an avid Opera user, but instead because I used Mozilla from time to time. Mozilla was a wonderful browser, I just happened to prefer Opera. He single handedly made me lose a bit of respect for Mozilla and everyone who uses Mozilla because they are in some way connected to him. Having him write pro-Opera statements just makes me feel dirty inside for some reason.
