How competing websites stack up against each other

David Storey, Opera’s Web Opener, came up with an interesting dueling contest idea that puts websites of competing brands against one another and seeing how well they display in various browsers. It also looks at other stuff, such as the use of CSS, JavaScript, and plugins.
The rules are as follows:
- Does the site work in all major browsers? (IE, Opera, Firefox, Safari)
- Does the CSS and (X)HTML validate or use standards based code the validators do not recognize yet?
- Are there any JavaScript errors?
- Does it use CSS or table based layout?
- Does it use CSS for style or HTML tags?
- Is the (X)HTML semantic and lightweight?
- Does the page work without plug-ins?
- Does the page work without JavaScript?
- Does the site follow accessibility guidelines such as alt tags on images?
- Are decretive images included in the CSS instead of the HTML?
- If a print option is offered is it a stylesheet or a separate page?
- Is a handheld stylesheet offered or the site mobile friendly?
Example:
- Coca-Cola vs. Pepsi
- The Beatles vs. The Stones
- Britney vs. Christina
- Star Trek vs. Star Wars
- Red Sox vs. Yankees
- UPS vs. FedEx
- Slashdot vs. Digg
What are some of the sites that you would like to see duel it out?

I’m such a nerd. =D
Ther’s nothing futuristic about StarTrek.com. Flash for the menu, come on. And it’s been like this for ages.
The link is a trick in itself, I remember at one point they had the notice that they improved the site, so you better get your plugin enabled, or else. And it’s still there: just try to go to http://www.startrek.com/ and you get redirected to /flash_required.htm
What can I say, I like the universe. But their *paramount* concern is not me.

Check out the home sites of the major browsers.
