Opera releases weekly builds of desktop browser
Published February 13th, 2006 11:51 AM EST By Daniel GoldmanWith the release of Opera 9 Technical Preview 2 last week, Opera is starting a new tradition: The Weekly Builds. Every week until the final version of Opera 9 is ready, Opera will release a weekly updated version of Opera 9.
Many Opera users have been asking for this for quite some time. Opera’s goal is to open their development process to its users and make them more involved at an earlier stage than when the next public beta is shipped.
It’s important to take note that these weekly build are not as thoroughly tested as the beta and preview versions that Opera has been releasing until now.

I just hate when some smartass lolz like you tell what they think of russians. Do you think there is still bears walking on the streets of Moscow? Do you think every russian drinks a canister of vodka in a day? No. We are a people just like you. Why do you think that “навсегда” is a bad word? Do you know what it means? It means - forever. Do you think i’m using firefox? No. I’m usinng Opera. And i think it’s the best browser ever.
So please ignore and delete stupid posts of such a smartasses.

Deleting messages by language attribute is an act of racism, which is not complying with the Opera spirit of openness. Beware the Russians, some of us can speak and write English and understand that speaking at least two languages is a definite advantage over you, narrow-minded jerk, and that racism cannot be tolerated in any form.

Since when did this become a “racist” blog just because the administrator deleted some comments and asked for everyone to talk in english?
And seriously, I can understand why he would delete them if they were in another language. Posting in an english blog in russian is just as disrespectful as posting in a russian blog in japanese or some other random language. If you can read and write two or more languages, fine, great for you. But that doesn’t mean everyone else can. Posting in a language other than the one the administrator and majority of visitors speak accomplishes three things:
1. making it harder for the admin to do his job
2. no one understanding what in the world you’re saying - because of this, your post might as well not exist and is pretty pointless
which brings us to…
3. being able to post derogatory/abusive comments without anyone knowing you’re doing so
Daniel is just trying to do his job. Leave him alone. If you can read and write English, great - now do it.

V: Just ask some of the Russian speakers to help you with cleaning the blog from **** (there are many ways to do this, including compilation of a list of derogatory words and applying it to the blog automatically)

V: Being able to post **** does not automatically mean that the person WILL post **** or is doing it, so NOBODY can delete anything HE/SHE does not understand. Being able to kill does not “bring us” to sending everyone to prison, for technically anyone is able to kill his/her neighbour.
Deleting (killing) anything that YOU do not understand is also xenophobia, a small sister of racism. Racism is segregation by national attribute, in this particular case - language. By deleting every Russian message you imply that ALL these messages were offensive, which cannot be true.
Democracy as you call it in the West claims to be a society where minorities are not oppressed by majority. So, “japanese or some other random language” is welcome under REAL democracy. Making decisions based on the will of Majority is “bolshevism” (”majoritism”) - the start of Communism as it was in USSR.

The requirement of posting in English shouldn’t be construed as a racist act.
There are two main reasons for requiring comments to be posted in English:
1) This is an English site, which by definition excludes other languages. My English readers don’t particularly care to read comments in a language other than English. There are many other sites that reprint my article in other languages (which is fine, so long as they link back to me), feel free to post your comments on those sites.
2) Posting in other languages means that I can’t moderate those comments for inappropriate content.
I read every comment that is posted to Opera Watch and I appreciate you taking the time to discuss the Opera buzz here. Please continue to post comments, but ONLY in English

I suggest the administrator or the moderator, to be more accurate to stop all that flame completely unrelated to the post.
That could be done by removing some messages by all those Russians who’re just havin’ fun.
