Opera Mini Introduction

Opera today posted on their website a small video presentation explaining Opera Mini.

Here, at Opera Watch, I have written about Opera Mini multiple times already, if you haven’t really understood what it’s all about, head over and watch the video.

Opera Mini is an amazing new technology. In short, not all mobile devices are powerful enough to run regular browsers. The Opera Mini, however, uses a remote server to pre-process the page before sending it to the phone, thus using less of the phone’s resources thereby allowing it to run on nearly all mobile devices. Getting Opera Mini (free) is as easy as downloading a ringtone. It’s a pretty neat idea.

Also today, Opera Mini was released for users in Germany. Opera Mini is also available all over the world exclusively to Opera Community members.

This is not really new technology. Existing browsers such as Palm’s Brazer 2.0 already do that.
