Opera Man Cloned

It turns out that the Opera Man is popular with some after all.

A German company added the Opera Man and its slogan to its website. Though, as Lars Kleinschmidt points out, they didn’t copy Opera’s slogan correctly by misspelling “Simplicty”.

The hitching Opera Man was first introduced as part of the Opera 8 campaign. It was never really popular in the Opera community.

Opera doesn’t have a mascot at this time. Some in the Opera community suggested that the Opera Man might become Opera’s new mascot, though Opera denied this multiple times.

There was actually talk in Opera about introducing an official mascot, but that seems to have died down.

    Hey, I like Opera Man!

Can/will Opera do anything about the kidnapping?

    Mein Gott!

It’s amazing that people still think no one will notice if they copy an image, layout, or logo for their own use.

I mean, if someone wanted to set up an Opera Man fan site, that would be one thing, but re-using the art for their own purposes? Sounds like a candidate for pirated-sites.com.

Using the superman is ok as that images was rented from a third-party company.

But using the same layout as Opera does seems a bit … stolen
