Yap, same case with NTLM here. Using and office lan which runs on a proxy which needs authentication. I really like Opera and I would like this function to be included in opera 9. Now I gotta use firefox.

I agree with the guy above that, telling your admin to change the login system as laughable.. :)

The two major problems with Opera are:

1) with the university proxy + firewall (www.ntu.edu.sg) it frequently takes a long time to start page transfers, and does not show me anything before ending. Sometimes I give up and use FF that seems to deal better with our environment.

2) I cannot enter some university pages because "authorisation method is not suppored". Only Opera has this problem and the advice to convince admin to change the system is a joke.

I do hope that opera 9 will improve in these respects as this is the best browser, but unfortunately in our environment, not usable ...

Robert,

Only a Technical Preview version of Opera 9 has been released as of this time. It doesn't have the quality and stability of a beta version yet, so use it at you own risk.

i too have been using opera since 5 series and yes, have had a few crashes - but not too many... and every release has been more stable and increased overal office productivity... the m2 mail client is a great system - look forward to trying the IMAP support...

The email HTML rendering is strange (HTML that looks fine in browser show up distorted in email)

hopefully this issue and others are smoothed out in opera 9...

Tried a number of browser last weekend to get away from IE. Really liked Opera 8.5 until I started working the next day and noticed that I cannot access most of my companies ressources (Missing NTLM authentication). Well, I am on Firefox now. If Opera 9 adds this feature I will certainly reconsider Opera.

<B>NTLM authorization: A must for corporate environments.</B>

As Opera claims to reach for the #2 spot in the browser market, I consider it unavoidable to add NTLM proxy authentication seamlessly into the product.

This is a very common requirement in enterprise environments, and NTLM authentication is feasible with Firefox since it's early version.

<a HREF="http://www.opera.com/support/search/supsearch.dml?index=463" rel="nofollow">Opera's help pages</A> link to a third party tool which might look smelly to corporate IT admins, or advises you to change your proxy setup allowing plain-text basic authentication.

Safely, huh?

Instead of XSLT, I want to see full SVG 1.1 support in Opera 9! That would be a feature to become world's #1 browser...

I am using Opera since ver. 5 and even though I see, why people like Firefox, I'm still sticking with it. It might not reach FF's transfer rate when loading a site, but it renders much faster. Pitty, though, that there are still so many websites that are not supported, which work in FF.

IMAP? I thought this was already in? Actually some kind of groupware possibility would be nice. If not for exchange, then maybe for Hula, OpenXChange or MDaemon. Actually, Opera is just calendar away from being my desktop :-).

XSLT is ugly? You won't get around it if you want to support XML so it's got to get in.

And again: could someone please give me some HTML-editing for mails? Plain-text sucks for business-mails.

What else? Contact import/export with Outlook, Thunderbird, etc., eventually even for mails.

Well, still, I love Opera and will not swich to FF for now. Let's see, what Opera 9 and FF 1.5/2.0 will have to offer.

XSLT is a quite nice Idea. Lot or RSS stuff will be much more usable with an own Template :-) its just the right time for it. I cant wait to see the improvments of IMAP too, lot of providers new featured stuff is based on IMAP. Hope it will be a fine implementation. The Email-Client in Opera sucks at moment.

IMAP already works: what is new about that? Hope some other mail-related things will be improved (esp. accuracy of search and false double mails in the draft-view).

I got some stability problems since Opera 8.02, might be because of the QuickTime Plug-in 7.0.2 - I have to test it out (it is not as worse, after reopening I still have the same tabs open).

Sorry folks, i have no clue what you are talking about. I am using Opera since Ver. 5 now and i never ever had a problem with the stability of the program. I admit that there are some new features that might not be necessary but in my personal opinion Opera is the browser number one.
