Opera 8.1 Technical Preview released

Opera released today a second technical preview version of its browser with BitTorrent support, version 8.10.

The preview is available for the Windows, Unix/Linux, and Mac platforms.

In this preview version Opera has improved its support for BitTorrent in the browser.

In addition Opera now identifies itself by default as Opera in the browser UserAgent (More on this in a future post).

    I got all excited when I saw 8.1, but this appears to be simply 8.02 Tech Prev 1 forked out with some fixes so that the mainline doesn’t get BitTorrent? Have they chosen this as “Build 10″ or the first official preview of 8.1? It’s also not clear if the fixes in 8.02 (final) are in this build…

    What’s with the versioning of Opera? Why not go with the Moz approach of major.minor.patch where:

    8.0 => 8.0.0
    8.01 => 8.0.1
    8.02 => 8.0.2
    8.10 => 8.0.10

    8.10 => 8.1.0

    8.0.1 != 8.01
    8.0.2 != 8.02

    this is becuase when you write
    8.10, is it 8.10.0 or 8.1.0 or 8.0.10?
    you see the problem.
    those dots are important.
