I FOUND A WAY TO RUN OPERA ON A PALMOS DEVICE:
INSTALL JAVA VM FROM PALMONE, AND THEN INSTALL OPERAMINI.JAR INTO YOUR DEVICE FROM THE JAVA MIDLET INSTALLER. IT WILL WORK PERFECTLY.
I PUT THE JAR INTO MY YAHOO ACCOUNT, IF YOU WANT TO DOWNLOAD FROM THERE:
http://geocities.yahoo.com.br/rafaelfernandesdeoliveira/operette-hifi_myopera.jar

IF NOT, SEARCH GOOGLE FOR OPERA MINI DOWNLOAD, AND YOU SHOULD FIND IT!

Hey, I don'y use palm by now, sometime I used and i really think opera for Palm is must do!! For you who sys that Opera is a "really bad OS technically (ie, no decent pre-emptive multitasking and memory protection)" I'll tell ya that that's not true, memory is not protected anywhere, unless you use the internal one which is unreachable for common users. "and stupid design choices when it comes to the hardware (ie, no dual-wireless models, no dual-expansion-slot models) compared to Pocket PC's, the latest of which have VGA screens, 600+ mhz CPU's, 3d accelerators..." Stupid is the necesity of installa such big procvessor just to run a mediocre OS as Windows, i iot does not work on desktop, why it has to on your hand??? well may be because they use ultra fast and ultra powered hardware to make all OS issues be gone, for a while. Palm Os is more light, easy to use and really needs an Opera versión.

Actually, the reason Palm is selling less well is a combination of a really bad OS technically (ie, no decent pre-emptive multitasking and memory protection) and stupid design choices when it comes to the hardware (ie, no dual-wireless models, no dual-expansion-slot models) compared to Pocket PC's, the latest of which have VGA screens, 600+ mhz CPU's, 3d accelerators...

just signed the petition. i don't know why more people haven't signed it.

i use my Treo smartphone for almost all my web browsing. unfortunately, all the web browsers i've tried are terrible ~ Eudora Web, Palmscape, Web Pro not to mention AvantGo ~ i've used them all. i even paid $25 for Xiino.

i hope that the "<a HREF="http://www.webstandards.org/buzz/archive/2005_03.html#a000509" rel="nofollow">big announcement</A>" is about Palm OS support.

Oh my god. I would kill for Opera on Palm. It's a "no brainer:"
1) Opera rocks on the small screen
2) Palm is the original (and in my opinion best) small screen OS.

I think there is a misconception about Palm OS as still being the underpowered, monochrome green screens of 1991. Times have changed thank-you-very-much. My Tungsten T5 is a brilliant 480x320, millions of colors, 256 MB of storage with a 416Mhz ARM processor. Unfortunately I think this misconception is coming from the market, thus driving down Palm sales, thus making it a less attractive prospect for Opera. It's too bad that people are still swindled into PocketPC by that little Windows logo :(
